Helping Pets Stay in Loving Homes

At the Appalachian Highlands Humane Society, we understand that financial hardships can make it difficult to provide for pets. Our Pet Food Pantry offers temporary assistance to individuals and families struggling to feed their pets, ensuring they remain in loving homes rather than being surrendered due to economic challenges.
This program operates solely on community donations and is designed to prevent pet hunger while promoting responsible pet ownership. If you are facing financial difficulties, please review our eligibility guidelines and apply for assistance.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for pet food assistance, pet owners must be currently receiving one or more of the following forms of assistance:

  • Social Security (SSI or SSDI)
  • Disability Benefits
  • Medicaid
  • SNAP (Food Stamps)
  • WIC (Women, Infants, and Children Program)
  • Experiencing Financial Hardship (such as foreclosure, eviction, or low-income status) – Approval is determined on a case-by-case basis

Applicants must provide proof of eligibility, such as an award letter, benefits card, or documentation of financial hardship.
