The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. We do not receive public or government funding, no monies from national humane organizations (such as the Humane Society of the United States) or county, state or federal government funds. Our work depends solely on grants, fundraisers, adoptions, private funding, memberships and donations.
Our Mission
To raise awareness to save, protect and advance the lives of the animals of the Appalachian Highlands.
Our Vision
To serve as an active resource and model for the education, promotion and implementation of effective and measurable programs to end cruelty and euthanasia of all animals in our area and beyond; and 3) to be leaders in the following areas: the prevention of cruelty to animals; promoting spaying and neutering to reduce the number of unwanted animals; fostering and adoption of abandoned and unwanted animals; fund raising to fulfill our mission; and education and promotion of our programs in the community.
