Through our Foster and Adoption Program, the Humane Society of Washington County helps hundreds of animals find loving forever homes. Our adoption teams will work with you to find the right dog, cat or critter for your home. Below is how the process works:
Step 1: Explore all of the animals in our program that are currently available for adoption.
Our online adoption listings are live and updated daily.
Step 2: Complete and adoption application.
Once you have found an animal that you are interested in adopting, complete and adoption application that is available online and submit it. One of our foster adoption team members will contact you. Please make sure to complete the entire application.
Step 3: Adoption Interview
We use an interview process to ensure that each animal adopted will be matched to the most compatible new owner. During this process we will review any medical or behavioral information relevant to that animal, explain policies and services available to adopters.
Step 4: Approval
Once your application has been reviewed and approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled. To ensure the pet is compatible with everyone, all household/family members should interact with the animal before the adoption is finalized.
